The IB Diploma Program

The IB Diploma Program is represented by the circle to the right.

Subjects belong to six Groups while the Core has three components, including Theory of Knowledge (TOK), Extended Essay (EE) and Creativity, Action, Service (CAS). Students must take courses from each Group.

To receive an IB Diploma, students must complete all subject assessments as well as complete requirements for the Core.  Mininum subject scores and minimum total scores out of a possible 45 points also apply.

IB courses are normally completed over two years.  Of the six subjects taken,  three must be in Higher Level (HL) and three in Standard Level (SL).

Higher level courses include 240 hours of instruction, more content and more challenge. Standard Level courses include 150 hours of instruction.  Both levels are university preparatory and may be recognized with advance credit by universities based upon scores.
